| Hello my first post of 2009, i've been wanting to write this for the longest of times but i never got around to it. To sum some of the highlights of Jan and Feb (thus far): 1) Prefects investiture was the bomb
2) I LOVE KOREA. The korean fencing exchange programme was so funnnnnnnn! I wanna go back so badly:( Eeekkk.. On the plus side, some of the fencers should be coming down in June! YAY! Joo Sun, Say Hee and Sun hyun ;)
(I'm watching you, claytonnnn. ahaha)
(Sun and Moon! They make such a cute couple ;))
3) Flew buisness class to and back from Penang on Wednesday and Thursday evenings to attend the 2nd Commonwealth Junior Fencing Championships. That was crazy tiring, but loads of fun:D
Currently i'm doing my vectors homework, but i'm taking a short break to type this out. teehehehe. Yesterday was my "Slack Day 2009", i completedly slacked and did nothing productive. Except go to the gym and read a book... which is kindna the real reason why i'm posting tonight.
Yesterday i went down to Borders and grabbed myself two books, one of them being:
Give a Boy a Gun "Ripped from today's headlines comes the story of two high school students who are out for revenge. Armed with stolen rifles, they terrorize a high school dance -- holding classmates and teachers hostage. In quotes from the teens involved, as well as from their classmates, teachers, and family members, we learn what has led two otherwise unexceptional boys to this fateful moment."- a review somewhere. lol.
I was looking for a book that would be easy to read, help me relax, provide entertainment and make me think more than Gossip Girl. 'Give a boy a gun' definately did the trick! I started and finished the book yesterday night. It was interesting to read about the rarely-written-about subject of school shootings. As well as the many trivia facts on shooting and violence in America, added at the bottom of the pages. Some examples: "Each day fourteen children under the age of nineteen are killed by guns."- National Center for Health Statistics, America, 1996
"Each day people wielding guns kill 64 people, rape 33 women, rob 575 people and assult 1,100 more"
i remember putting down the book and thinking: "Woah. I have never felt more grateful to live and go to school here in Singapore." seriously! One of the worst fears i have when i go to school is sitting for a test or exam, but i never considered some other teenager out there fearing they'll getting gunned down in school! After the story i really wish America would ban their citizens from owning guns, cause to me it's just bringing them more problems than solutions.. but some people insist it's still they're right to own one! No offence but why would you want to own something that might risk your 6 year old child being accidentally gunned down by their friend. Or worst still, your child gunning down someone else's child?!
Sighsighsigh.. Anyways, I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to take a break from all the math worksheets while still doing something productive! bwahahaa.. okok, time for me to get back to work. heh.

| hello everyone, i decided to spend time posting even though i might regret it later. 2008 is going to be over in less than 3 hours according to my watch and i'm kindna dreading 2009. Not only because i have Os but also because of training and.. and yeah. actually, mainly because of the fact i have my O levels coming up and i want to increase the intensity of my training! I hope i'll be able to find the 'balance' -and not screw up my life- but as my mommy said: "Put each day in the hands of the Lord" which i think is a very wise decision.
But besides just dreading the new year, during these few hours, i'm also happily reflecting on 2008 and what a fantastic year it has been. I have made friends, travelled(during school time!) and fenced (more:)). I have had many successes and failures. And more importantly than that though, i wouldn't have been able to accomplish anything without the special people in my life. which i shall now leave messages for before the dawn of the new year

CARYL Hello carly! i haven't seen/barely spoken to you over the past two months, and i'm often not in school (due to fencing and sickness) but through my thick and thin, you have always stood by my side and have always given me encouragement and advise. which i'm extremely grateful for:) and not forgetting always being uber funny and turning a sad situation to a funny one. 09 will be our last year in SCGS, but i hope it won't be the last year of our friendship! Hope to always have you as a friend and always be there for you too! All the best for next year and hope to see you in the hwa choong uniform in 2010, yo! love you loads<3
DILYS woah, it's gonna be our last year in SCGS. fast, huh? Even though we aren't in the same class i've always looked forward to our starbucks wednesdays and our deep (sometimes emo) conversations. You've been blessed with mature thinking for people our age, and i feel that you should embrace this gift and feel proud of it! Hoping that in 09 you'll accomplish everything you set your heart to and manage to find time to enjoy musicals while mugging for the Os :) Ohoh, and not forgetting to squeeze in some starbucks, ohkies? lovelovelove <3
All the Z fencers Thank you guys for being my lifelines and lifewires, you've helped me reach heights that i never thought i would and all my accomplishments in fencing (the few that i do have... ahahaha) i credit you guys too:) it's a "team effort" after all! Ya'll are like my family and all our outings have been a blast! Even though i haven't tried cooking mama!! :( Wishing everyone all the best, hope everyone does well in their studies, hope their national rankings go up and lets try and make singapore better than "second worst fencing country in asia" :D HURRAY KOREA! less than 2 months awayyyyyy! XOXO
JESS Jesslynnnnnnnnnn. you ahhhh, burn the midnight oil during exam period just because you under estimate yourself! heh. Unfortunately i only got to know you this year, but i'm thankful that i have! thanks for being such a wonderful friend and remembering about me even when i was awayyyy! The short conversation we had while i was in brunei really cheered me up. like, reallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy cheered me up! :D:D:D All the best for 09 and i hope to see you in the hwa choong uniform too ;) much love<3
Sarah (beh) chica, thanks for being such a wonderful listening ear and advisor. I enjoyed every single mugging day at your house and think i would have produced worst grades if i didn't go there so often. Even though i no longer attend your care group, i know that you are actively apart of it and have a strong faith in the lord. I hope that in the year 09 he will guide you to greater hights and help you accomplish your dreams. Keep smiling and drinking milo! and remember not to send too many smses! love you alotalot<3
My family Three people that i love Dada, mommy and Jereph even though you many never read this... i shall type it anyway! thank you for all your support in my fencing! I know that it isn't a cheap sport, that's why it means the world to me knowing that i always have your encouragement and support where ever in the world fencing brings me to. thank you for also putting up with my bad temper. when the work load and stress gets to me, it's usually you guys who suffer. I'm terribly sorry for all the pain i have put you guys through, and i will make an effort to change in the coming year! i love you guys even when i don't say it! (and even when there's a frown on my face!)
Pammy hon' welcome back to very humid singapore! I'm glad to hear you're settling well into your new school:) You've been such a great friend even though you're halfway around the world, and i'll always miss having popiah with you at taka! All the best whereever life takes you and hope to see you working back here in Singapore:D Always write to me on your black berry! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxo :)
Clayton jiajia, thanks for everything you've done for me this year, i am truly lucky to have you! teehehehe Hope that i haven't been a dissapointment and here's to surviving another year! ;) yay us. 09 is going to be a rough year, but it doesn't mean it can't be fun either. Remember to go to the gym: 3km, 3 times a week do footwork everyday do weights for arms and wrist, but dont use shoulder etcetcetc gosh i sound like such a mother. right, cousin?! Ahahhaa.. all the best for 2009, remember that i am always here for you i love you now and for always
To everyone i haven't written to in this post, but is a person in my life I thank everyone sincerely for making my life as enriching as it can possibly be. 2008 was filled with extreme highs and extreme lows, i have grown in many ways (including side ways! LOL) and i have found a new passion for life. I thank the Lord for blessing me with each and everyone of you, even if i barely get to talk to you, and i thank him for giving me the oppotunity and means to fence and study through out my youth years. Even though there's a high possibility i will fail in the coming months, i would have rather tried and failed, than to have never tried at all:)
"NO REGRETS" -Motto for 2009
hope everyone keeps healthy and happy and may all your wishes come true! Goodbye and Goodnight 2008 | | |
| Hey guys,
weijun commented that my xanga had dieded, so i promised to post when i got to brunei and tell everyone how sucky it is. Yes everyone, brunei is a sucky place to fence. We landed yesterday at the Brunei international airport, which can be described as kindna resembling Changyi's budget terminal? Yeah, and not only that. we had our weapons confiscated, even though we had our weapons permit. heh.
Oh, but it gets even better. We are staying in a hostel, on the fourth floor. And there are no lifts. Dragging your fencing gear and other stuff up all those stairs isn't a stroll in a park or anything. hmpf.
There's wireless internet, but the signal can't be detected in my irritating room. what the hell. But i shall remain positive! Tomorrow is my first event Women's Foil Individual Junior. And the day after tomorrow is when the guys are cominggggggg

(hurry guys, the rest of the Z people are dying without you!)
Countdown: 6 more days in Brunei
it could be worst.

| Hello people
we are one day away from Korea, baby!
ahhh! can't wait!
Flying off tomorrow evening with Clay, Moth and James on Singapore Airlines from Terminal 3. Whoohoo, funnessness. (Weecher and Keith are leaving a day later! awww..) Excited to get away and take a break, since i still haven't celebrate the end of EOYs. My results kindna killed my happy spirit. But. yeah. Tryng not to expect too much from AJC, especially cause my head is whacked right now with different advice on how to fence from different people.
Ohwell.

will still try my best.
OH! Reallyreallyreally looking forward to wearing the team singapore jacket and polo shirt! (Yes. Zfencers got the jacket, finally.) And munching on kimchi and guides cookies at night. Andand studying in korea before watching movies and having karaoke sessions
Wish me luck and tell me if you want Cactus Chocolate
